Celebs have good reason to choose the Maldives

With the world at his disposal, Tom Cruise chose the Maldives for his honeymoon.

Our seaplane skims along, smooth and low over an ocean of pure, sparkling, translucent blue stretching to the horizon. Below, to left and right, behind and forward, the aquamarine expanse is broken only by a sprinkling of small islands separated as if by some supreme architect at discreet distances apart, each existing in its own private space.

Each, too, is marked around its edge by white beaches slipping into clear, gentle shallows and dipping down to the deep, the centres lush with exotic shrubs, trees and palms. Without exception, thatched roofs dotted here and there peek through to the sky and sleek jetties reach out their arms like daddy longlegs, hosting on this side and that a string of uniform, over-water timber bungalows, complementing nature. Lagoons, and waves breaking over coral reefs, are distinguishing markers.

In fact, close to 100 per cent of this country's territory is actually under water: the thousands of individual, small, land masses rise no higher anywhere than a metre or two above sea level. So, then, Maldivians are adept seafarers. Catch a bus or train in Sydney or Melbourne: catch a plane or boat to commute in the Maldives.

But the Maldives has taken its watery trademark to inventive levels. At one resort, I descended by staircase to the ocean floor to dine in a massive sub-marine wine cellar, its walls lined with 6000 premium bottles. (No room for the Grange; it was stacked in crates by the door!)

At another I was soothed by a herbal facial and a pedicure in a submerged aquarium: I was the "goldfish in the bowl" as curious schools of sharks and wrasse cruised by the picture-glass walls around me.

Airport Security Checks - Tips and Ideas

Security check is an inevitable part of air travel. Large numbers of people pass through airports every day. Such a large gathering of people presents a natural target for terrorism and other forms of crime due to the number of people located in a small area. The transport safety authorities recommend all travelers to arrive at the airport well in advance of scheduled flight departures.

Each passenger and his/her baggage have to undergo through the security check. Whether it is Laptop Bags and Carrying Cases, or the perfume and the wallets are checked throughly. Though you cannot avoid it at all, you can take precautions while preparing for the journey. Everything is checked very well including the women's laptop bags.

It is illegal to carry items such as weapons, metallic tools, explosives or items that catch fire easily. However, with effect from September 26, 2006, passengers are allowed to carry liquids, gels and aerosols in their carry-on bag. However, all liquids, gels and aerosols should be carried in three-ounce or smaller containers. Certain prescription drugs and over-the-counter medicines, baby food, breast milk and other essential liquids are exempted from this rule. However, verify the details with the airlines authority before arriving at the airport.

Jennifer Lopez in the Maldives

The famous J Lo has arrived to the Maldives today in a private jet accompanied by her partner Mark Anthony for the possibly the birthday bash of the year. The 'not-so-green' party of Sir Phillip Green's 55th Birthday is hitting headlines across the world. Maldives has never seen anything like this, this is definitely good for the industry. We could spend millions to market our products but this is marketing at its best.
Commenting on this huge event, a prominent reformist businessman said "we are in deed very pleased to welcome such famous people to our country," He further added "we just hope they take note of other things here than just the blue water and sandy beaches", referring to the on-going repressive system.

Environmental campaigners are bound to comment on the excessive carbon emissions from the jets for this party. The carbon fingerprint is now a major issue in the west. It certainly is Green's party but it is not so green.

Asia Adventures - Some of the great cities Part 1

Asia represents some of the worlds most popular travel spots. Finding the best city in the Asia must be a difficult challange. I would start my list of great cities with Tokyo Japan which is porbably one of the most visited city in the Asia. Japan is also regarded as one of the most developed city in the world.

The second place goes to the Beijing China. China has done more to influence the culture and history of the continent than any other single country. Some of the interesting places include the Confucius Temple, the Temple of Heaven, and Tiananmen Square :- The spot where Mao proclaimed China a people's republic in 1949. His image still looks down upon the Square.

The third place goes to the Bangkok Thailand. Bangkok probably has more to offer visitors than any other country in the region. If you spend any time at all in Bangkok and are interested in seeing the city's cultural attractions, the first place to go is the Grand Palace. The Outer Palace includes the Royal Temple (Wat Phra Kaeo) and some administrative offices. Because it is on the Palace grounds, Wat Phra Kaeo has no resident monks. It is one of the richest artistic sites in Thailand.

The resort will feature villas of various categories, ranging from garden and beach villas to sea front duplex and water villas, including one Royal Water Villa.
